Downward Dog Pose
The Downward Dog Pose is one of the most recognized and essential yoga poses, stretching the entire body while building strength in the arms and legs.
How to Perform Downward Dog Pose:
- Starting Position: Begin on your hands and knees in a tabletop position.
- Lift Hips: Tuck your toes, straighten your legs, and lift your hips toward the ceiling.
- Form a V-Shape: Extend your arms and legs, forming an inverted V-shape with your body.
- Engage: Press your heels towards the ground and relax your head between your arms.
- Hold: Breathe deeply and hold for 5-10 breaths.
Dos:
- Keep your spine straight and lengthen your body.
- Distribute weight evenly between your hands and feet.
- Engage your core to protect your lower back.
Don'ts:
- Avoid locking your knees; keep a micro-bend if needed.
- Don’t force your heels to touch the ground.
- Refrain from hunching your shoulders.
